Artist's Statement |

| "For
me, the value of painting exists in the process itself. The finished
product is, of course, the ultimate goal, but what happens along
the way is of equal importance. The creative process engages the sensual, cerebral and emotional aspects of my being. The smell of the paint, its various textures and the sensation of applying it to canvas are an integral part of the experience. Experimenting with and mastering techniques, as well as researching and planning new works of art, provide intellectual satisfaction. The sense of anticipation as the painting emerges, the excitement as the work takes on a life of its own and the sense of pride upon completion are a few of the emotional benefits. In addition, I enjoy the challenge of evoking a visceral response through a totally visual medium." |

| about Betsy | ||

 |
Betsy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Sarah Lawrence College, studied for one year at Cambridge University in England and took summer courses at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. Her
professional career began in New York City in 1968, where she worked
in advertising and participated in projects involving illustration,
graphic design and layout. Moving to Miami in 1975, she turned
her creative energies toward designing original artwork for childrens'
clothing. In the early 1980's she expanded her career to include
the designing and manufacturing of childrens' accessories. |
