Aleta Burgé reveals the overlooked in her paintings of fleeting visual impressions. Her watercolors often evoke the poetry of the ordinary: familiar encounters - forging the ability to open our eyes to worlds accessible to us but not yet received.

Receiving nature with acute perception, to her nothing is commonplace, everything is luminous with a beauty all its own. Her paintings lull the observer into looking at nature from a new point of view. Aleta's paintings are not merely what she sees, but in addition what she feels about what she sees. These paintings mirror states of mind shaped by her experiences with the external environment. They should be considered by those who feel rather than those who merely catalogue and document.

Her expansive body of work echoes her journey of a wandering woman amidst a world of never ending marvels and sensitivity. Aleta's work is founded on honed feelings, engaging all of our senses. Her paintings have tangible and audible sensations that are rendered into the visual experience, which is the hallmark of her work.

Nature plays upon her like a catalyst, rousing her imagination, memory, and emotion while opening a channel of spiritual energy quite unique to contemporary works in watercolor. She is intimate with the cycles of natureand considers it as a fathomless source of inspiration.

Through idiosyncratic interpretations of quite common objects and a stylized transfiguration that implies at ethereal forces through the use of vibrating lines and auras- Aleta grasps a transcendent dimension within the everyday world without making one seem more real than the other. She depends on a variety of everyday symbols- sunflowers, egrets, silk floss trees, the moon, root systems, coconuts, orchids, and tree trunks- and weaves them intostylized but representational images of astounding poetry also termed as"lyrical realism."

Aleta"s affection for the land and the people who inhabit it has forged her devotion to painting and aspires to enhance the spiritual level of her audiences, awaking them to the essential oneness of all things.
